About Us

Our Organization

For the youth by the youth

Re-Defined is non-profit started in January, 2022 with the goal of empowering people from marginalized communities especially BIPOC community and international students. The main ways in which we hope to empower the youth is via provision of access to education, opportunities and necessary resources. Our education comes in the form of workshops which cater to topics raging from social issues like menstrual and sexual education, awareness around sexual abuse, climate and sustainability to skill/career based topics like entrepreneurship, leadership, marketing and financial literacy more to also topics such as health literary and more. We couple these with provisions of access to opportunities in the form of events, mentorship programs, networking, fellowship opportunities and community engagement and provision for access to resources such as those of menstrual products, school supplies and more

Through this work we have been able to impact around 20,000 people in the last 1.5 years across 4 countries: India (Pune, Mumbai, Delhi & Karnataka), Canada (Vancouver Halifax & Toronto), and Uganda and Ghana. We have also conducted 25+ events in the last 6 months for more than 1000 students in Canada and India to further building of skills and confidence among the youth and thus, empowering them to become write-off their own story and get the access to role models that guide them to do so.

Projects

What we do?

Our most recent and biggest initiative has been our food drive and menstrual and sexual education workshops where we catered to about 500 people each in Ghana and Pune, India. In Pune, india we served food packages to about 500 people from low socio-economic backgrounds and beyond provision of food, also had conversations with them to learn more about them and their experiences, in hopes of breaking down stereotypes as well, creating inclusion
At the same time, in Ghana we hosted sexual and menstrual education workshops for 5 different schools catering to 100 students each, with content being presented to them via local representatives in their local languages leveraging multiple learnings types include audio-visual via presentations and video, to even texts on printed paper and books we provide them with as well. The sessions include pre and post surveys that we take to understand the impact of our sessions and these are coupled with the provisions of free menstrual products to women at the end of the workshop and provision for cess to doctors or gynecologists in India via whatsapp to answer any queries they may have come up in the next 2 months minimum.
The books we provide them with is basically a copy of our powerpoint with more images and text to act as resources for the female students in schools., with 1 copy to be found in the library of every school to rent out to students when needed
We have also run entrepreneurship workshops and skill building for students aged 15-25 yrs in collaboration with universities, colleges, orphanages and even slums for FREE hoping to enable the youth to take ownership over their lives, careers and decisions they make.
The surveys revealed a 75% increase in confidence among the girls aged 15-18 yrs with 55% of them feeling a lot more positive about their bodies and agreeing to the demystifications around menstruation like “you cannot play when on period or go to school” and local ideas such as those of “menstruation being a sin”. The smiles on their faces were enough to showcase the impact that had been created
Our most recent project was also our Social Impact fellowship program where we have a cohort of 25 dedicated SDG activist graduated with a certificate in social entrepreneurship which is a 3 day event full of workshops and training followed by a 2 month social project carried out by students across 4 countries together either locally or online hoping to advance SDG goals specifically those of SDG 4 of Quality Education and SDG 13 Of Climate Action
